* A 25-BORE PERCUSSION BREECH-LOADING SPORTING RIFLE SIGNED 'LIOBENBAUM?', MODEL 'LOBNITZ PATENT', no visible serial number,
circa 1835, with 22 1/4in. twist-iron octagonal barrel tilting up on a cantilever, dove-tailed blade fore-sight, gold band at muzzle, engraved applied rail at breech for rear-sight (missing), the flats of the barrel inlaid with separated gold stars, the top-flat also with a gilded arrow marker, borderline engraved squared boxlock action with floral engraved detail, the left side signed in gilt script 'LOBNITZ PATENT', gilded signature to the right hand side off-set hammer with the head formed as a monstrous beast, the top of action engraved with geometric borders with gilded lightning bolts surrounding the nipple, the top of receiver with a panel depicting a hunter shooting at birds over dogs, the top-tang with further relied engraving with details all picked out in gilt, rotating side-lever to un-cam the barrel, basket-weave chequered maple butt-stock with raised cheek-piece, the rear of the cheek-piece carved in deep relief with a stag in a woodland setting, sliding dark-horn patch-box lid to right side of butt, curved iron heel-plate, square-backed and spurred engraved trigger-guard bow, double set trigger, no provision for fore-end and fitted with iron swivels for sling
