circa 1860, with heavy octagonal 34in. barrel (frosted externally), the muzzle rounded and drilled in the face for a ball-starter (missing), dove-tailed blade fore-sight, buckhorn rear-sight, the area immediately behind the rear-sight stamped 'WM CRAIG PITTSBURGH, PITTSBURGH', the rear-end of barrel and breech block tapped for an auxilliary sight (missing), the breech-block stamped 'WM CRAIG' and with traces of colour, plain long top-tang, plain bar-action lock signed 'WM CRAIG' (traces of colour), American walnut figured straight-hand half-stock, rococo bordered brass patch-box to right hand side of butt, brass crescent heel-plate, double-spurred brass trigger-guard bow and tang, double-set triggers, white-metal fore-end cap and replacement ramrod; COMPLETE WITH a period American market brass scissors ball-mould signed 'T. KIRKLAND UNION CITY TENN.', numbered '435' and marked 'MADE IN ENGLAND'
