circa 1865, with round 36in. heavy barrel, short sighting rib at breech marked 'LANCASTER'S PATENT', block at muzzle for for fore-sight (missing), base for rear-sight (missing ladder) and provision for tang-sight, borderline and scroll engraving at breech, border engraved bar-action lock signed 'C.W. LANCASTER, 151 NEW BOND ST., LONDON', scroll engraved hammer, walnut half-stock with chequered capped pistol-grip and fore-end, full-length trigger-guard tang, iron furniture, and moulded horn fore-end tip with no provision for ramrod.
