A 12-BORE 1887 PATENT 'ROUND ACTION' TRIGGERPLATE-ACTION EJECTOR, serial no. 5556,
27in. replacement nitro barrels (by the makers), rib engraved 'JOHN DICKSON & SON. EDINBURGH.' and '2', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/2 and 3/4 choke, right wall at 18, Dickson patent round-action incorporating patents 9399 and 10621 of 1887, use number 1048, toplever engraved '2', automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, profusely engraved with fine scrollwork, brushed bright and reblued finish overall, 14 7/8in. well-figured stock including 7/8in. ebonite extension, replacement fore-end wood, weight 6lb. 9oz., in a lightweight Brady canvas case with Dickson trade label

Provenance: The gun is supplied with a photocopy of the original makers records confirming that the gun was completed as No.2 of a pair on the 10th August 1903 for a Genl. Knox. It was originally supplied with 29in. barrels The use numbers quoted are 1027 and 1028.
