A CONTINENTAL SPORTING PLUG-BAYONET,
probably French or German, late 17th to early 18th century with 11in. spear-point blade false-edged for the last 3 1/2in. (some staining and re-profiling caused from sharpening), heavily stamped 'shooting star' makers mark at forte, gilded and engraved symmetrical cross-guard with turned back quillions (possibly assembled upside-down), gilded turned ferrule, smooth tapering grip-piece with bulbous stop and turned and gilded pommel, missing scabbard
