A PAIR OF 140-BORE PERCUSSION POCKET-PISTOLS OF SMALL SIZE, no visible serial numbers,
dated for 1850, with slightly tapered smoothbore turn-off 1 1/2in. barrels (slight traces of blued finish), borderline and scroll engraved squared boxlock actions, the top-plates signed 'WITTON, LONDON' (separated by the central dolphin-headed hammers), finely chequered walnut bag-shaped butts with clipped-corner rectangular escutcheons at wrists engraved 'J.S.A. 1850', guarded triggers and Birmingham proofs
