A CASED PAIR OF GOOD 80-BORE PERCUSSION DOUBLE-BARRELLED SIDE-BY-SIDE RIFLED PERCUSSION PISTOLS OF SMALL SIZE, serial no. 3 & 4,
Belgian, circa 1845, with turn-off etched damascus 1 3/8in. multigroove rifled barrels (one pistol with frozen barrels), one pistol numbered '3' on all major parts, the other '4', engraved false vents, square actions engraved with vines, twin plain central hammers, concealed automatic engraved twin triggers, smooth bag-shaped ebony buts with diminutive cap-traps in the heels; TOGETHER WITH a period clipped-corner walnut veneered case re-used and lined for these pistols, the lid with extensive satinwood marquetry inlay and banded around the edges, the interior in green baize with a lidded compartment for balls or caps (small losses and crazing to veneer)
