AN INDO-PERSIAN SHAMSHIR,
circa 1850, with curved broad 27in. blade false edged for the last 8in. and widening at the tip, traces of gold koftgari signature, arabesque and 'Star of David' device to the right hand side of blade, reinforced back edge, engraved cruciform white metal cross-guard with engraved borders and turned urn finials, 'mameluke' style white-metal hilt with smooth horn scales, hole at pommel for sword knot (present), the blade lightly cleaned with some dents to furniture pieces, together with its matching black leather scabbard (some shrinkage, stitching pulled) mounted with border embossed white-metal fittings including carved central suspension band with twin loose rings
