A 12-BORE / 7X57R BOXLOCK NON-EJECTOR DRILLING, serial no. 14418,
21 5/8in. Krupp Rochling Elektro-steel nitro reproved barrels (in 2005), raised matt rib with two folding leaf sights and provision for telescopic sight mounts, tubes engraved 'SEMPERT & KRIEGHOFF, SUHL', and retailers details 'G. RESTEMEYER . OSNABRUCK', 2 3/4in. shot chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and full choke, scroll-back treble grip action with carved standing breech and side-clips, pin cocking-indicators, tang mounted shot / ball selector switch, manual side safety, set front trigger, action carved with stylised floral and scroll designs on a stippled ground, with game scenes of roe deer and wild boar, the underside with an oval inscribed 'KRIEGHOFF DRILLING WALDSCHUTZ', old silver finish, 14 1/2in. pistolgrip stock with cheekpiece, engraved steel hinged ammunition trap, sling swivels, fluted grip and fore-end, including 1/2in. ebonite extension, weight 7lb. 7oz.
Provenance: The drilling can be dated to February 1930.

This Krieghoff Drilling was one of many civilian owned weapons that were collected in from the German population in the Plön area in North Germany towards the end of World War 2.
It was acquired by my father, an officer in the British army who was serving in the Plön area, he later moved to other parts of Germany where he used it to shoot wild boar in the forested areas.
On his return to the UK the gun was imported but the regulatory authority had some difficulty in deciding on what certificate it should be held and at one time it was suggested it should be registered under a Firearms Certificate and a Shotgun Certificate but they were persuaded a Firearms Certificate would be the correct certificate.
When my father died the gun was passed to me, I have used it on many occasions for rough shooting.
In 2005 I arranged for the gun to be UK proof tested.
