DECHANDON, ST. ETIENNE,
A 20-BORE FLINTLOCK SILVER-MOUNTED DOUBLE-BARRELLED SPORTING GUN, no visible serial number,
circa 1795, with slightly shortened 33 1/4in. octagonal to round sighted barrels with faded plum-coloured finish, silver-covered border engraved grooved tang, polished rounded border engraved locks respectively signed 'DECHANDON' and 'A ST. ETIENNE', well figured half-stock with raised cheek-piece, chequered grip and fore-end, carved in relief with a mask behind the grip and a dragon behind the cheek-piece, silver mounts including associated butt-plate with sprung hinged trap-cover moulded trigger-guard and ramrod throat, iron sling mounts, later bone-capped ramrod (some minor surface corrosion marking to locks, stock with insert repairs to fore-end and grip, chequering refreshed).
