A CONTINENTAL HUNTING HANGER WITH COMPANION KNIFE AND FORK,
late 18th / early 19th century, probably French, with 23 1/4in. slightly curved single-edged fullered spear-point blade engraved with panels of scrollwork and shells at the ricasso, the shallow fullers each incised with a game scene, cast and chased gilt brass hilt including downcurved shell-guard with a vignette of a mounted hunter with hounds chasing a wild boar, knuckle-guard with a female classical figure, the grip decorated on each side with a hunting scene complete with its brass-mounted brown leather scabbard with brass-handled knife and fork (some discolouration and wear to blade, scabbard broken through).
