AN 18-BORE FLINTLOCK SINGLE-BARRELLED CARBINE, no visible serial number,
Austrian, late 18th century, with 12 3/4in. swamped octagonal sighted barrel rifled with eight grooves and signed 'FRUWIRTH IN WIEN', flat bevelled lock, walnut three-quarter stock with raised cheek-piece, sliding wooden patch-box cover, brass mounts, iron saddle-bar, no provision for a ramrod (iron parts cleaned with some discolouration).
Other Notes: A Joseph Fruwirth is recorded in Vienna from around 1740 until 1790.
