German, circa 1836 and probably re-worked from flintlock, with iron 11in. barrel, dove-tailed front-sight, standing notch rear-sight to the top-tang, push-through hammer safety behind breech-block, plain military-style lock with faint makers stamp, walnut full-stock, iron back-strap engraved 'No 163' and with provision for shoulder-stock, heavy brass furniture, the butt-cap stamped 'G.H.' over 'A' over 'N.13', the sideplate stamped 'K.D.' over 'D.67' with a large '6' at the rear, no provision for ramrod, darkly stained exposed iron surfaces
