Indian, circa 1800 with spurious East India Company marks and date of '1701', with strongly flared two-stage 17in. barrel, engraved bands at the intersection and breech, solid squared top-tang, military style lock with false signature forwards of the hammer and a spurious E.I.C. 'heart' trademark to the tail, walnut three-quarter stock (shortened from full), brass furniture, iron stirrup swivels and iron ramrod
