A BRITISH OFFICER'S PATTERN 1796 LIGHT CAVALRY SABRE WITH BLUE & GILT BLADE,
circa 1810, with curved clip-point fullered 33in. blade, the first three-fifths of both sides with a blued background and gilded motifs of flowers and trophies (left side faded), one side also featuring a cavalryman in period dress wearing a 'Tarleton' helmet, iron stirrup hilt with turned down quillion and applied broad langets, curved back-strap (old brazed working repair) and wire-bound leather grip, missing scabbard
