A PERSIAN SHAMSHIR,
circa 1770, with strongly curving 30in. watered blade false edged for the last 7 3/4in., narrow central blind fuller, two further fullers towards the back edge, terminating in returns towards the hilt on the right hand side, carved spine to the back of the blade, gold inlaid Arabic signature to the left side of blade behind the fullers within a circle (small loss to inlay), koftgari inlay to the right side in a similar place, etched iron cross guard with disk finials, beaked grip bound in silver wire, white metal back-strap formed from plaited wire with carved border (loose, loss to tip), front-strap missing and white-metal pommel-cap with applied and wire decoration (also loose, losses and fragile), no scabbard
