A 22-BORE PERCUSSION SINGLE-SHOT SPORTING-RIFLE, no visible serial number,
possibly converted from flint circa 1835 and of 'Jager' form, with slightly swamped octagonal 32 1/2in. barrel, the top-flat inlaid in silver 'P. Wittermann MANNHEIM', twin inlaid bands at muzzle and breech, further saw-tooth inlay forwards of breech-block, dove-tailed brass fore-sight, buckhorn rear-sight (one, possibly two small holes drilled at breech, one plugged with white-metal), plain flat lockplate with signature (darkly stained), walnut full-stock with silver-pin decorated skip-chequering to the wrist and fore-end, raised cheek-piece, patch-box with horn cover to the right side of butt, heavy brass heel-plate with pierced decoration to toe, faceted trigger-guard tang with pistol-grip spur and pillar-fronted bow, double-set triggers, brass ramrod throat with reinforcing wings, faceted front thimble and associated ramrod (fore-end cap missing, some pitting to outside of barrel
