AN INDIAN ARMY OFFICER'S SWORD, UNSIGNED, no visible serial number,
circa 1850, with plain curving 27 1/2in. blade false edged for the last 9in., solid cast brass 'mameluke' hilt with straight cross-guard with carved pineapple quillions, short relief carved langets, the centre of the guard with raised guelphic crown, plain broadly faceted hilt, the pommel carved in the form of a lion's head and with loose chain knuckle-guard running from mouth to front quillion, complete with its brass scabbard, the throat stamped '2ND W. INDIA'
