A BRITISH INFANTRY OFFICER'S PATTERN 1897 SWORD, UNSIGNED, no visible serial number,
circa World War One, with spear-point 32in. straight blade, broad central fullers etched with 'GRV' crowns and floral motifs, Star of David proof-mark to the forte, pierced iron half-basket guard with turned down inner guard (traces of plating), the outside with GRV cypher and engraving, rayskin covered wire-bound hilt, chequered nickel back-strap and pommel, complete with its leather field sword-knot and leather field scabbard
