Product Details
A SCARCE 'ADDIATOR' DUPLEX ADDING AND SUBTRACTION MACHINE FOR POUNDS, SHILLINGS AND PENCE, serial no. 157900,
made in Berlin, Germany between 1920-30 and constructed of gilded and lithographed sheet brass, slight wear to surface on the 'addition' side, complete with its original brass stylus, instruction sheet, guarantee card and leatherette storage wallet
Other Notes: These clever manual mechanical calculators were extremely popular when first launched selling over 100,000 examples across all models in the first year of production. Production ceased during wartime but numerous copies had a brief resurgence during the '50's and '60's until the advent of decimalisation in 1971 and the advent of the electronic calculator. Like most obsolete devices, many were thrown away and these sterling currency examples are rarely encountered today
