A GOOD APPROXIMATELY 4-BORE SINGLE-BARRELLED FOWLING-PIECE, no visible serial number,
circa 1840, with browned damascus 34 1/2in. Birmingham proved barrel, the top signed 'LONDON', bead fore-sight, short sighting rib to the breech-end engraved with the head of a pointer dog, the rib terminating in an engraved needle and a scroll panel, squared breech with platinum plug, borderline and scroll engraved bar action lock signed 'POINTER' with further engraving of a water-fowl in a lakeland setting, greek key engraved border separating the lock-tail and scroll engraved hammer, walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist and fore-end, with iron furniture and horn fore-end tip, replacement under-barrel ramrod,
