A CASED PAIR OF 15-BORE FLINTLOCK DUELLING PISTOLS SIGNED TOMLINSON, no visible serial numbers,
circa 1785, with re-browned, slightly swamped octagonal 9in. barrels, bead fore-sights, standing notch rear-sights, engraved top-tangs, touch-holes lined in yellow metal, flat, slightly curved bevel edged step-tailed lockplates signed 'TOMLINSON', floral engraving to hammer necks, semi rainproof pans, roller bearings to the frizzen springs, walnut full-stocks with bag-shaped butts with chequered slab-sides (one broken through and repaired), silver oval escutcheons to the wrists (one with traces of an armorial engraving) and brass furniture, probable replacement ramrods (one fore-end cracked and repaired); TOGETHER WITH a mahogany storage case, compartmented and relined in burgundy baize and including a number of period accessories including a three-way flask, a loading rod with jag end, a scissors ball-mould, a wad punch, a flint wallet, bone pot and a turn-screw.
