A SCARCE .380 (SHORT COLT) SIX-SHOT REVOLVER, MODEL 'U.S. NAVY CONVERSION OF THE 1861 NAVY MODEL', serial no. 21442,
made circa 1864 and converted mid 1870's, with round 7 1/4in. barrel, traces of address to top, plain cylinder stamped '778' over '1442', open iron frame, the left side stamped with '1871' and '1872' patents, brass grip-straps, the heel stamped 'USN', smooth walnut one-piece grip, the left side marked with a large letter 'A' (possibly amateur) and stamped near the base 'D2' over 'CP' (inverted), the underside of barrel marked 'R.W.M', and a spring loaded ejector rod mounted to the right side of barrel
