circa 1780, with two-stage 14in. barrel banded at the intersection, the top-flat signed 'LONDON', bead fore-sight, engraved band at breech, engraved top-tang, bevel-edged European lock with stepped tail and engraved with scrolls and trophies, sliding safe behind the hammer, rainproof pan, roller-bearing to the frizzen-spring, walnut full-stock (losses to fore-end wood at muzzle), inlaid around the barrel-keys, underside of fore-end and back of wrist with silver-wire scrolls (some losses), long-eared silver-plated iron butt-cap with central brass button embossed with a crescent moon device, plated rococo escutcheon to wrist with recumbant crescent above and crossed cannon below, silver-plated trigger-guard bow and tang, silver-plated ramrod thimbles and horn tipped ramrod (plating worn and lifting in places)
