A FINE .30-30 LEVER-ACTION REPEATING SPORTING RIFLE, MODEL '1894 SPECIAL ORDER', serial no. 87010,
for 1897, with blued half-round, half-octagonal 26in. take-down barrel with matted sighting plane, the left hand flat signed 'MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO, NEW HAVEN CONN U.S.A.', blade fore-sight, later dove-tailed mounting blocks for a telescopic sight (sight missing, blocks partly obscuring address details) short 'special order' buckhorn rear-sight with two additional folding leaves, blued receiver, top tang fitted with factory peep-sight, highly figured walnut butt-stock chequered at the wrist, blued shotgun heel-plate, colour-hardened finger-lever, scarce double set trigger, figured chequered walnut fore-end (nose-cap missing screws), eyelet for the Winchester sling and half-length under-barrel magazine tube, much original finish throughout
