A VERY RARE .22 UNDER-LEVER AIR-RIFLE, MODEL 'VII', no visible serial number,
circa 1936, with 19 1/4in. barrel, the underside marked 'MADE IN GERMANY', replacement tunnel fore-sight, tap-loading breech with dove-tail provision for a rear-sight (missing), plain air-chamber marked 'HAENEL MOD. VII', the rear of air-chamber fitted with a G&B PRECISION IRONSIGHT MODEL 'A'' diopter sight, the top of trigger-unit marked with the Haenel 'arrow' trademark, walnut semi pistol-grip half-stock with iron heel-plate and finger-grooved fore-end, iron trigger-guard with screw adjuster to the front, fair amount of original blued finish faded to brown in areas
Other Notes: Despite being mentioned in period advertisements, this air rifle was only rumoured to exist by collectors for many years with no verified examples ever having come to light. In more recent times, with the interest in collectable airguns increasing, a number, including the example presented here have been unearthed. It remains however one of the hardest pre-war German air-rifles to add to a collection.
