A COMPOSITE EUROPEAN 16TH CENTURY HALF-ARMOUR,
circa 1580, comprising of a breast and backplate, the breast-plate with heavy rolled edges carved with reeded decoration, five dot armourer's stamp below neck, pronounced medial ridge with pointed midriff, the chest with triple shallow 'S' shaped mirrored flutes converging at the centre in a downwards point and repeated on the backplate, the skirts applied as separate pieces with similar decoration, twin replacement leather shoulder-straps and buckled waist-strap, the whole mounted above a similar period hinged gorget with integral articulated shoulder pauldrons formed of five plain lames (leather straps also renewed), the last with rope-twist rolled edge; TOGETHER WITH a wood display stand
