A 17TH CENTURY GORGET,
possibly English circa 1650, and for wearing with a leather buff-coat, constructed in two halves with rolled seams, hinged on the left shoulder with key-hole closure on the right, the inner and outer edges with densely packed brass dome-headed rivet retaining the original leather lining strips (small losses to internal rivet plates and leather distressed), cleaned with traces of mild pitting, the underside painted black for preservation
