AN ENGLISH MORTUARY SWORD,
circa 1650, with straight single edged 34in. blade double fullered for the majority of its length, both fuller signed on both sides near the hilt 'X FERARA XX', the tip of blade false edged for the last 9 1/2in., typical iron basket, the front face engraved and chiselled with male faces and floral decoration, the basket formed from three bars and two side-bars, spirally fluted wood grip (binding missing, some worm), the basket bars attached to the carved bulbous pommel by three screws (almost certain replacements)
