A CLOSE HELM OR ARMET FROM A FUNERAL ACHIEVEMENT,
restored most probably mid 19th century and for an earlier funery achievement, the hinged face-plate with twin narrow rectangular 'sights' with rolled lower edges and pointed front, hinged lower face-plate (hinge nuts replaced internally), possible late 16th century one-piece skull with central comb and hanging spike (loose), and additional fixed plate to front of skull (neck-plates old replacements, holed for suspension), originally with side mounted hook closure (now missing along with rear-mounted plume holder) some heavy cleaning and age cracking throughout, rear suspension hole broken through, interior painted red for preservation
