circa 1800 with later conversion to percussion, octagonal deeply rifled 2 3/4in. turn-off barrel, the top-flat signed 'H. NOCK, LONDON' (faint), octagonal breech with borderline engraving, border and trophy engraved squared central hammer boxlock action, the right hand side with sliding trigger release for the triangular side mounted sprung bayonet, the left with spring steel belt hook, sliding safe to the top-tang (top nail missing), chequered bag-shaped butt, concealed automatic trigger, possible traces of finish under hardened grease and oil
