AUG. 21 1894', plain receiver, exposed hammer (spring weak or replaced), the top-tang signed 'MODEL 1894 WINCHESTER, PAT. AUG. 21 1894', walnut butt-stock with carbine-style heel-plate, iron finger-lever, walnut fore-end with nose-cap and half-length magazine tube, traces of finish throughout, some screws and pins replaced
