A RUSSIAN SILVER AND NIELLO ENGRAVED SNUFFBOX,
of .935 standard silver and dated for 1835, city and makers mark obscured, the rectangular 3in. x 1 3/4in. body with curved base for the pocket, slightly domed lid engraved with a medieval style hunting scene featuring a hunter with an arquebus stalking a boar with a dog, the scene enhanced by niello (worn), engraved border and side-panels, the underside engraved in a similar period style with a bolting stag in a woodland setting
