LONDON', 78mm chambers, bored approx. true cyl. in both, wall-thicknesses below recommended minimum, Dougall 'lockfast' patent action, patent no. 1128 of 7th May 1860, rearward facing push-down sidelever, action face with protruding bosses, rebounding back-action locks with hammers with spurs of hare's-ear form, the breasts of the hammers meeting the strikers, scroll-front triggerguard, feathered and ropework border and fine scroll engraving, the underside marked 'J.D. DOUGALL'S PATENT LOCKFAST', the action flats marked 'PATENT LOCKFAST' and '.SPECIAL.', brushed bright and reblued finish overall, 14 3/8in. refinished stock including chequered horn buttplate, weight 8lb. 1oz.
