A .44 (RUSSIAN) SIX-SHOT REVOLVER, MODEL 'DOUBLE-ACTION FIRST MODEL', serial no. 12011, WITH FACTORY LETTER,
manufactured in 1884, with 4in. round break-open barrel (traces of nickel-plate), raised sighting rib signed by the maker and including address and patents to 1880, barrel locking catch to rear of top-strap, fluted cylinder with distinctive vertical long and short indexing flutes, plain frame with single screwed sideplate (further traces of nickel-plate), spurred hammer, chequered hard rubber grips (worn smooth) and square-backed trigger-guard; TOGETHER WITH a factory letter dated February 21, 1997

Other Notes: The accompanying letter states that the revolver left Smith & Wesson's factory on September 30, 1884 and was delivered to M.W. Robinson, New York City. Robinson was at the time the most prolific dealer in Smith & Wesson products within New York.
