A SCARCE SWISS SIDEARM, possibly an 1847 Pattern, with broad fullered double edged straight 19 1/2in. blade, etched with traces of scrolls, the fuller etched 'NEU UNIONE LA FORZA' on one side and 'VALORE LOMBARDO. 22. MARZO 1848' on the reverse, symmetrical ribbed brass hilt, the straight cross-guard with stylised acorn quillions and a large central Swiss cross, complete with its brass mounted leather scabbard, worn throughout
