A RARE 28-BORE PERCUSSION HAMMERLESS REVOLVING RIFLE, MODEL 'HARVEY'S PATENT', serial no. 3692,
circa 1845, with octagonal 18in. barrel, the top-flat signed in script, 'HARVEY'S PATENT, 68 SOUTH STREET, EXETER', the serial number appearing further along the barrel, dove-tailed fore-sight with nickel blade, standing notch rear-sight near the breech, large plain cylinder, the chambers numbered '1' through '7', plain hammerless action, the top-plate signed as the barrel, sliding safe to the left hand side, chequered walnut butt-stock (hairline crack at head), iron heel-plate with rectangular trapdoor covering a compartment probably for an auxilliary loading lever (absent), lower tang with finger-spur, breech section with slot for loading lever, traces of finish
