circa 1880, with round tip-up 3in. barrel (stripped of finish and polished to represent plate), raised sighting rib signed 'XXX STANDARD 1872', the left hand side of barrel marked 'J.M. MARLIN NEW-HAVEN CT USA PAT JULY 1 1873', short fluted cylinder, plated brass frame (some wear), central hammer and spur trigger, chequered gutta-percha grips
