circa 1865 and originally supplied with an additional front-loading lip-fire cylinder, with octagonal 5 3/8in. barrel, raised sighting rib signed 'PLANT MFG CO NEW HAVEN CT', the left hand side marked 'MERWIN & BRAY NEW YORK', applied white-metal blade fore-sight, sighting-groove to the top-strap, solid bronze frame with central hammer and spur trigger, bolt-action ejector mounted to right of frame behind the plain iron cylinder and smooth walnut grips
