circa 1865, with octagonal 6in. tip-up barrel, raised sighting rib signed 'SMITH & WESSON, SPRINGFIELD MASS.', applied crescent fore-sight, fixed ejector-pin beneath the barrel, three pin cylinder lock, plain cylinder, plain iron frame, central hammer and spur trigger, smooth flared walnut grips, traces of finish beneath dark staining
