circa 1862, with octagonal 3 1/2in. tip-up barrel (locking catch spring missing), raised sighting rib signed 'SMITH & WESSON, SPRINGFIELD MASS.' above patent dates to 1859, applied crescent fore-sight, fixed ejector-pin beneath the barrel, no top-strap cylinder lock, plain cylinder, plain iron frame, central hammer and spur trigger, smooth flared walnut grips, traces of finish with some bruising
