A SCARCE .28 PERCUSSION POCKET-REVOLVER, MODEL 'WARNER'S PATENT DOUBLE-TRIGGER', serial no. 171-48,
one of approximately 350 produced only in 1851, with round 2 1/2in. barrel, bead fore-sight, open iron frame with top-strap dovetailed to barrel mount and screwed at action, plain cylinder with roll engraved bands of circle engraving and marked 'WARNER'S PATENT' on a forward milled band and 'JAMES WARNER, SPRINGFIELD MASS' on a second band near the nipples, scroll engraved radiused action with central offset hammer, guarded double triggers, the front rotating the cylinder, the rear dropping the hammer and smooth walnut grips (almost certainly replacement)
