dated for 1863, with 36 1/2in. barrel (scrubbed of finish), block and blade fore-sight, elevating ladder rear-sight, flip-open breech-block marked 'SNIDER'S PATENT' and stamped 'BSA Co', plain military type lock signed 'LA CO,' and the date, 'VR' and crown to tail plain hammer with chequered spur, chequered walnut three-quarter stock with brass furniture except for the barrel-bands and swivels, the left hand side of but inlet with a small silver shield inscribed 'COL.L SCOTT TO LIEUT DUNDAS MOUNT, NOV.R 1873' and iron jag-ended underbarrel clearing rod
