Provenance: The vendor has kindly confirmed that this gun was the property of his father, Major Tony Ferrier, a Company commander in the 5th Battalion Royal Norfolk Regiment, and who spent almost 4 years in a Japanese POW camp.
During the Second World War, he was part of the troopship deployment which became known as "Winston's Specials", and took part in the defence of Singapore. THis deployment became the longest "trooping" deployment in British Military history as they crossed the equator 6 times, and steamed the equivalent of more than once around the world.
