circa 1871, with round, tapering 7in. barrel, pillar fore-sight, sighting notch to the top of the rolling breech, the top of barrel marked 'I' over 'J.M.B.C.' over a naval anchor device, slab-sided receiver signed by the maker and with patents to 1866, smooth flared walnut grip with traces of a martial cartouche, traces of colour
