A RARE .36 LIPFIRE SIX-SHOT SINGLE-ACTION REVOLVER, MODEL '3RD MODEL LIPFIRE NAVY', no visible serial number,
circa 1860, with tapering 6in. octagonal barrel, the left side signed 'ALLEN & WHEELOCK WORCESTER M.S. U.S.' over 'ALLEN'S PAT SEPT 7 NOV 9 1858', dove-tailed blade fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight to rear of top-strap, plain cylinder, hinged ejector forming the trigger-guard bow, solid frame and smooth walnut grips, retaining much of its apparently period nickel-plated finish
Other Notes: Only approximately 500 examples of this revolver were manufactured in the early 1860's. Production was discontinued over increasing pressure from Smith & Wesson over potential infringements of the Rollin White Patent for the bored-through cylinder.
