A CASED PAIR OF 25-BORE PERCUSSION RIFLED OFFICER'S PISTOLS, no visible serial numbers,
first quarter of the 19th century, possibly converted from flint, with slightly swamped brushed bright 6 3/8in. octagonal barrels, the top-flats signed 'J.H. FREY A ZURICH', dovetailed bead fore-sights, colour-hardened top-tangs with elevating rear-sight blades and numbers respectively '1' & '2' of a pair, signed flat border-engraved locks with carved eagle-headed hammers and engraved pan-shaped fences below the nipples, walnut full-stocks with chequered grips, swollen pommels with engraved iron caps, single-set triggers with engraved spurred bows, floral finials, sideplates and ramrod throats, horn tipped ramrods and fore-ends, complete with their burr-walnut veneered case compartmented and lined in emerald green velvet in the Continental manner and containing a loading mallet, ball mould and powder-flask, the last two associated (lock missing)
