manufactured in Belgium for export circa 1840, with fine damascus round 1 1/4in. turn-off barrels with keyed muzzles (frozen), moulded offset fenced nipples, silver inlaid scroll engraved bodies with gold dot detail, off-centre dolphin-headed hammers, the underside of the actions signed in gilt alongside the concealed trigger-blades 'LAPORT IRMAOS RIO DE JANEIRO', and smooth ivory bag-shaped butts with white-metal masked butt-traps at the pommels
