A CASED 54-BORE PERCUSSION TRIGGER-COCKING REVOLVER, MODEL '1851', serial no. 20349Y,
circa 1853, with octagonal 6 1/2in. barrel engraved with a band at the muzzle and scrolls at the throat, dove-tailed fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight to the rear of the top-strap, the strap with borderline and scroll engraving and signed 'THOS. FLETCHER GLOUCESTER', external flat-spring retaining the cylinder arbor, border and scroll engraved solid frame, plain cylinder with borderline engraving and a further engraved band to the leading edge, the action with spurless hammer and fitted with 'TRANTER'S' patent double trigger mechanism (use no. 1731), chequered walnut one-piece grip and moulded iron butt-cap, complete with its retailers mahogany storage case, compartmented and lined in blue baize and fitted with a parchment trade label inside lid, original accessories including the detachable rammer, nipple-key, a Tranter's patent mould, cleaning rod, oil bottle, cap-tin and grease-pot, also including a later flask (lock missing from case)
