the first possibly late 18th to early 19th century and from the Gilbert Islands, formed of a shaped lignum body (some age cracking) approximately 33in. in length, the sides set with drilled sharks-teeth bound to the body by twine (many losses), the grip rounded with offset conical pommel, the second from Fiji and of similar age, formed as a large headed knobkerrie or pineapple club, the integral 12 1/2in. handle carved with geometric patterns at the grip, the head 4in. in diameter with old cracks and voids
